Public school privatisation anyone?

Bantah sekolah diswasta

KUALA LUMPUR: Kesatuan Perkhidmatan Perguruan Kebangsaan (KPPK) semalam membantah langkah menswastakan sekolah kerajaan.

– Bernama

Joke of the day ..

Ashley Cole is caught doing 104mph in a 50mph zone. When questioned why he was speeding he answered “I’ve heard that John Terry is parked outside my house”.

I lost my dear uncle Prof Kamarudin bin Mat Salleh, at about 6.50 pm 2 days ago. He has been on a life support system at the HUKM for the past few weeks. He suffered from Cancer which originally attacked his kidney & then spread unto his lungs.

We laid him to rest yesterday in the morning around 11.30am , at Perkuburan Sg Kantan, Kajang Selangor. Many kith and kin came from near and far for the funeral. We thank them most copiously, also to those who sent condolences and salam takziah. Due to the very short time frame we had for making funeral arrangements, I must have missed informing many. To them, my very sincere apologies.
Al fatihah.

Security issues on GPS gadget & mobile phone

This will give us something to think about with all our new electronic technology.. .. especially the GPS warning.

I know that I have my HOME location keyed into the GMXT unit.. I will now remove it, or else put in the Local Police station as my home address.

GPS

A couple of weeks ago a friend told me that someone she knew had their car broken into while they were at a football match. Their car was parked on the green which was adjacent to the football stadium and specially allotted to football fans. Things stolen from the car included a garage door remote control, some money and a GPS which had been prominently mounted on the dashboard.

When the victims got home, they found that their house had been ransacked and just about everything worth anything had been stolen.

The thieves had used the GPS to guide them to the house. They then used the garage remote control to open the garage door and gain entry to the house. The thieves knew the owners were at the football game, they knew what time the game was scheduled to finish and so they knew how much time they had to clean out the house. It would appear that they had brought a truck to empty the house of its contents.

MOBILE PHONE

I never thought of this…….

This lady has now changed her habit of how she lists her names on her mobile phone after her handbag was stolen. Her handbag, which contained her cell phone, credit card, wallet… Etc…was stolen.

20 minutes later when she called her hubby, from a pay phone telling him what had happened, hubby says ‘I received your text asking about our Pin number and I’ve replied a little while ago.’

When they rushed down to the bank, the bank staff told them all the money was already withdrawn. The thief had actually used the stolen cell phone to text ‘hubby’ in the contact list and got hold of the pin number. Within 20 minutes he had withdrawn all the money from their bank account.

Moral of the story:

Do not disclose the relationship between you and the people in your contact list.

Avoid using names like Home, Honey, Hubby, Sweetheart, Dad, Mom, etc….

And very importantly, when sensitive info is being asked through texts, CONFIRM by calling back.

Also, when you’re being text by friends or family to meet them somewhere, be sure to call back to confirm that the message came from them. If you don’t reach them, be very careful about going places to meet ‘family and friends’ who text you.

To do list in case of tremor or earthquake

Do remain calm.  If the building starts to shake tremendously, DROP to the floor. If possible, grab your hand phone and a bottle of drinking water. If you are in a wheelchair, stay in it, move to safe cover, lock your wheels, and protect your head with your arms.

Take COVER under a sturdy desk or table.  If this is not possible, take cover against an interior wall and protect your head and neck with your arms.  Do not take cover near windows, mirrors or other heavy objects.  Avoid hanging objects, exterior walls and heavy items on wheels.

After taking cover, HOLD ON to the desk or table and be prepared to move with it during the shaking.

Minimize your movement.

DO NOT pull the fire alarm.

DO NOT run for exits or use elevators.

DO NOT light candles, matches or lighters. These may ignite an explosion if there is a gas leak.

If the tremor felt is mild, the building does not shake and/or there is no cracking sound, stay put for an announcement via the Public Address (PA) system.

However, if there is tremendous shaking and cracking noise, please EVACUATE once the building stops shaking. Kindly exit the building via the safest route. Do expect aftershocks and watch for possible dangers such as falling plaster, broken glass, etc.  Be aware of fire or fire hazards which could impede your evacuation.

If the incident happens during office hours, please move to the designated assembly site away from building and any potential threats or dangers such as downed power lines.  In the assembly area, all evacuees will be accounted for to assist responders. However, if the incident happens after office hours, kindly leave the said premises safely.

For cases of INJURED or TRAPPED and if immediate rescue is not possible, use a whistle or tap on a pipe, floor, or wall which may help responders to locate you. Cover your mouth and nose to protect your airway from dust or debris.

DO NOT RE-ENTER THE BUILDING FOR ANY REASON. OSHE and / or Jabatan Bomba will advise when it is safe to enter into the building.

Politics Explained

A little boy goes to his dad and asks, “What is politics?”

Dad says, “Well son, let me try to explain it this way: I’m the breadwinner of the family, so let’s call me capitalism.

Your Mom, she’s the administrator of the money, so we’ll call her the Government. We’re here to take care of your needs, so we’ll call you the people.

The nanny, we’ll consider her the Working Class. And your baby brother, we’ll call him the Future. Now, think about that and see if that makes sense.”

So the little boy goes off to bed thinking about what dad had said. Later that night, he hears his baby brother crying, so he gets up to check on him. He finds that the baby has severely soiled his diaper. So the little boy goes to his parents’ room and finds his mother sound asleep. Not wanting to wake her, he goes to the nanny’s room. Finding the door locked, he peeks in the keyhole and sees his father in bed with the nanny. He gives up and goes back to bed.

The next morning, the little boy says to his father, “Dad, I think I Understand the concept of politics now.” The father says, “Good son, tell me in your own words what you think politics is all about.” The little boy replies, “Well, while Capitalism is screwing the Working Class, the Government is sound asleep, the People are being ignored and the Future is in deep shit.”
